Chervrolet Tru 140S Concept, Detroit Show Walkaround: Video

"Away from some of the bigger green reveals at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet launched two sporty concept cars aimed at younger buyers.

The rear-drive Code 130R and Tru 140S concepts caught our attention not just because of their striking looks, but also their fuel-efficient drivetrains.

Both utilize a 150-horsepower, 1.4-liter, turbocharged four cylinder engine, similar to the one you'll find in the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS. This would come with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission."  [Continue reading...]

Detroit Motor Show 2012: Chevrolet

Detroit Motor Show 2012: Chevrolet

"One journalist from a US motoring magazine was walking round the Detroit Motor Show asking every company boss, designer and engineer how the industry should go about attracting young people back into cars.

I was there at Detroit in 2000 when GM’s Pontiac division launched the Aztek, voted by Daily Telegraph readers as the ugliest car of all time. Brand manager Don Butler was feted like a rock star by a crowd of students supposedly moshing with joy at the launch of this stupendously ill-conceived SUV. This was the motor industry trying (and failing) to attract young people 11 years ago, so it's no wonder they haven’t come back in the meantime."  [Continue reading...]

Chevrolet Aims 2 Concept Cars At Millennials

Chevy Concept Cars

"Chevrolet is aiming a pair of concept cars at the growing number of drivers in the Millennial generation, giving them a look Monday at what the outside of the coupes might look like and asking them to help design the interiors.

The General Motors Co. brand unveiled the Code 130R and Tru 140S at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Both offer room for four, and promise a fuel-efficient 40 mpg. Neither has an interior made and Chevrolet will seek public input on that."  [Continue reading...]

2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Review

"There are battles, shouting matches, bragging rights and heated rivalries everywhere.  One place in particular is inside the automotive world and occurs between three similar but different camps.  The Big Three may be a grouping of the American car makers, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t animosity between them.  Due to this, a schism was created and for the most part, there is no real sign that the rip will be fixed anytime soon.  Here’s a truth: there are Ford F-Series owners, Dodge Ram owners and Chevrolet Silverado owners.  The recipe that created these three American workhorses is the same but to their respective fans, they couldn’t be anythin
g but different.  In order to find out why one group in particular sticks up for their love, we jumped behind the wheel of a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to experience one of General Motor’s most shinning stars."  [Continue reading...]

Sareni Chevrolet Camaro GT Brings American Muscle to Euro GT3 Series

2012- Sareni-Chevrolet-Camaro-GT3-front-three-quarter

"For the most part, FIA GT3 racing is dominated by the Europeans. Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche all compete in the hotly contested GT3 Series. A new, more Murican contender is set to diversify the GT3 ranks this year when the German-built Sareni Chevrolet Camaro GT hits the track to take on the likes of the 458 Italia GT3 and SLS AMG GT3 for the checkered flag.

Sareni United, the creators of the Chevy Camaro GT, was founded by Reiter Engineering for the sole purpose of fielding a Camaro in GT3 racing. Reiter owner Hans Reiter was inspired to build a Camaro GT3 car on a trip to the United States back in 2010 when the Camaro first debuted. 'I was immediately fascinated by the design,' Reiter said. 'The Camaro is a real men’s car, a muscle car, it is designed to be on a racetrack.'"  [Continue reading...]

2012 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS

2012 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS Front Left View

"A stiff clutch pedal and a manual shifter that doesn't move through the gears with much fluidity make the Camaro SS a chore to drive around town. The tall cowl, small windows, huge A-pillars, and tall, broad hood are also bummers, because you can easily feel claustrophobic in this car. If you're a Camaro person, you might not much care, but I find the Ford Mustang to be easier to drive and to have a more livable cabin than the Camaro. I suppose I would have liked our test Camaro better had it been equipped with the Hurst short-throw shifter, which seems like it would be $380 well-spent.

A 45th anniversary package is a stretch, in my opinion. 25, 40, 50, those are anniversaries worth noting, but 45? Not so much."  [Continue reading...]
